The Vision: Outfitting an Office Oasis
It’s perhaps no coincidence that Vegamour, a biotech-inspired hair wellness R&D firm and retail outlet, ended up with a natural-looking carpet fiber to complement their growing e-commerce empire’s corporate offices. The same aesthetic and performance concerns that go into a next-gen scalp serum are what prompted Curran & sisalcarpet.com to bring SynSisal® to market back in 2021.
Woven from reclaimed nylon, SynSisal® is the most true-to-life sisal-like fiber out there, with none of the drawbacks of natural sisal (prone to staining and wear and tear from heavy foot traffic).
Enter Studio Murnane, the LA-based commercial interior design firm that led the vision for this project. For reasons we’re about to explain we think they’ve made some of the smartest most beautiful applications of SynSisal® for an industrial oasis that we’ve seen to date.
The Project
Design Principles Studio Murnane executed amazingly:
Transitions. From wood floors to earthy woven fiber to original brick and back to wood again in the exposed beams.
Industrial chic. With Mid-Century Modern accents like slightly more complicated light fixtures, exposed building ribs, brass accents, organically shaped office furniture, and floor-to-ceiling plate glass.
Sound design principles. Literally the conference rooms and private offices along the perimeter of the co-working space benefit from the sound-absorbing qualities of the SynSisal® fiber for privacy and serenity.
A finished composition that is built to last. Wall-to-wall installation is simplified when seaming isn’t required for the design. These spaces are sufficiently narrow to really show off the edges of the carpet. The fibers are strong enough to stand up to many years of heavy foot traffic and castor chairs as well.
Warm and inviting. The neutral earthy tones create a soothing environment as we welcome workers back into the office.
This project turned out so beautifully, in fact, that Studio Murnane was inspired to install near-identical flooring specs in a future project: their own studio offices!

SynSisal® is Curran & sisalcarpet.com’s proprietary and unique hard-wearing synthetic sisal alternative, unlike any other product on the marketplace for how it looks and performs in contract and hospitality settings. It won’t stain like natural sisal, and is far easier to clean. It is certified for Class 33 - Heavy Contract Grade durability as well as rated to meet commercial building fire codes. SynSisal® area rugs are also available with an “infinity edge” border option. The infinity edge makes a fabric border unnecessary, as the ECONYL fibers are rigid enough to form a crisp line, giving the rug a clean design-forward look.
